The Miami Dolphins are in the process of looking for their next defensive coordinator after parting ways with Vic Fangio last week after just one season.
Miami has already interviewed former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley and has requested an interview with Buffalo Bills linebacker Bobby Babich for the position, but the team is looking for other candidates.
According to The Athletic’s Joe Person, the Dolphins requested to interview Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero, but Carolina has blocked him from interviewing for the lateral move.
Evero, 43, joined the Panthers last offseason after being one-and-done with the Denver Broncos as defensive coordinator the year prior. He’s been coaching in the NFL since 2007 (with a one-year stint in college in 2010), including a stop with Mike McDaniel’s friend Sean McVay in Los Angeles (2017-21).
It appears Miami will have to look elsewhere to find the next leader of their defense. Luckily, there are plenty of interesting names still out there that McDaniel, Chris Grier and Stephen Ross could interview.
