The Cowboys are expected to trade for Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Houston is expected to receive a 2023 fifth-round pick and a ’24 sixth-round pick in return, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
If the trade goes through, Cooks will join the fifth team in his 10-year pro career. The wideout, who has recorded six 1,000-yard seasons, is coming off a down year, having totaled just 699 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games last year with Houston.
For the Cowboys, Cooks will be expected help fill a void left last offseason when the team traded wide receiver Amari Cooper to the Browns. CeeDee Lamb led the team in receiving last year with 1,359 yards, but no other player on the team surpassed 600 receiving yards in 2022.
Cooks has two years remaining on a contract extension he signed with Houston last offseason. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston, the Texans will pay $6 million of the remaining $18 million guaranteed on Cooks’s contract.
