The Cowboys have a busy final stretch of this offseason, along with a whole lot of work next offseason when it comes to negotiating contracts with young stars. But it appears their current outlook with one of the longer-tenured and most talented players could become a bit cloudy in the immediate future as well.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, All-Pro offensive lineman Zack Martin is reportedly considering not reporting to training camp due to unhappiness with his contract. To make matters worse, Schefter reports that Martin believes he is “woefully underpaid” and that the Cowboys have had a “lack of interest” in restructuring his deal.

Martin was drafted No. 16 overall in the 2014 NFL Draft and has been named a First Team All-Pro six times, Second Team All-Pro twice and has made eight NFL Pro Bowls in his career. Since entering the league, he's played in every regular season game in all but two years — in 2018, when he missed two games, and 2020, when sidelined for six games.
As Spotrac details, Martin is currently making an average of $14 million per season on his current deal, the No. 9 highest among NFL guards. That number trails the yearly average of Atlanta Falcons guard Chris Lindstrom ($20.5 million) by $6.5 million annually.
