Cam Akers has decided to stay with the Rams for the time being. After it seemed the two sides were headed for a split before the trade deadline, Akers has remained on the roster. On Thursday, he’ll return to practice with the team, according to Josina Anderson.
Akers initially wanted to move on from the team after the trade deadline had passed and he wasn’t moved, but he and Sean McVay had a “good conversation,” as the coach described it, on Wednesday and laid out Akers’ options. McVay left open the possibility of releasing Akers to give him a fresh start elsewhere, but he also gave him the option to stay with the Rams.
And McVay also said that Akers affirmed him he wants to remain with the team and play for them again this season. This has been a very fluid situation between the Rams and Akers but it seems they may be coming to a resolution soon.
With both sides deliberating after the trade deadline to clarify utilization, RB Cam Akers has decided to return to #Rams practice today, per league source.

McVay is not scheduled to address the media on Thursday but we should get further clarification on Akers’ future when he meets with reporters after practice on Friday.
