The Chicago Bulls have a number of decisions to make on the future of their roster this offseason, including guard Coby White.
White is set to become a restricted free agent and after finding his name shopped around in trade rumors over the last two seasons, the Bulls now are leaning towards ‘matching any offer’ for White.
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun Times wrote on Saturday that the Bulls are ‘all in on matching any offer’ that White receives this summer from another team.
As Lonzo Ball’s future is unknown and with Patrick Beverley set for unrestricted free agency and as Cowley noted, ‘likely elsewhere’, and Ayo Dosunmu set to be a popular name on the restricted market, the importance of keeping White has increased.
Cowley said that the Bulls now have belief in White to ‘take the starting reins’ next season as Chicago’s point guard but that will all depend if he receives an opposing offer on the market, yet the Bulls are ‘likely matching’ any offer.
In 74 games this season, White averaged a career-low 9.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game on 37% shooting from 3-point range.
