The Cleveland Browns have been in the news about their desire to trade one of their backup quarterbacks, including Jameis Winston.
Insiders from the Cleveland market, from CBS, and even from The Athletic all speculated that Winston was firmly on the table as the Browns look to get another asset. However, one insider now reports that the Browns have never included Winston in any trade talks.
Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz has thrown cold water on any trade rumors surrounding Cleveland’s backup quarterback. Schultz writes:
“The Browns never discussed trading or moving on from Jameis Winston. Cleveland is expected to make a quarterback move today, but it won’t involve Winston.”

Given Cleveland’s struggles at the quarterback position a year ago, starting five different ones on their way to an 11-win season, it makes too much sense for them to keep a quarterback with a wealth of starting experience around just in case of emergency to avoid a repeat of 2023. So there we have it, Winston isn’t going anywhere.
