The Chicago Bears are eyeing another veteran wide receiver and return specialist to add to the roster. According to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, DeAndre Carter visited with the Bears on Monday.
During his four-year career, Carter has served primarily on special teams as a return specialist. He’s spent time with the Texans, Eagles, Commanders and the Bears, where he’s returned 79 punts for 723 yards, including a career long 42-yarder.
Last season with the Washington Commanders, Carter returned 16 punts for 134 yards and 36 kickoffs for 904 yards. While he hasn’t been a consistent offensive contributor, he set career highs in receptions (24), receiving yards (296) and touchdowns (3). He also added 10 carries for 89 yards.

Carter previously spent time with the Bears back in 2020, when they claimed him off waivers from the Houston Texans. During his brief stint in Chicago, he played in four games, where he returned four punts for 30 yards.
If the Bears were to add Carter to the roster, he’d be another depth option at wide receiver and his primary focus would figure to be on special teams as a kick returner.
Carter is also meeting with the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday.
