Replacement for Stephen Colbert’s coveted late-night TV slot announced

  • CBS has announced that Comics Unleashed with Byron Allen will take over The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s 11:35 p.m. slot.
  • The new schedule begins on 22 May, the day after Colbert’s Emmy-winning Late Show airs its final episode on 21 May.
  • Comics Unleashed, a comedy talk show featuring Byron Allen and other comedians, will air two back-to-back half-hour episodes, followed by Allen’s game show Funny You Should Ask at 12:35 a.m.
  • Byron Allen expressed appreciation for CBS's confidence, stating he created Comics Unleashed 20 years ago to provide a platform for comedians.
  • The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was cancelled last July due to financial reasons, though speculation arose that it might have been to appease Donald Trump amidst Paramount's sale to Skydance.
