Waltz emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating that the July 13th assassination attempt was not an isolated incident and that ongoing domestic and foreign threats require immediate attention.
As a member of the bipartisan Assassination Task Force, which consists of six Democrats and seven Republicans, Waltz expects the Secret Service to provide a comprehensive briefing to Congress. The task force was established to investigate the attempted assassination of Trump at a Pennsylvania rally earlier this month.
