During the last night of the Democratic National Convention, Rep. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan addressed attendees on the topic of national security, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election in shaping America's role in the world. Slotkin warned that President Trump's approach could lead to a regression in America's global standing, stating that the choice in November is between 'America retreating from the world or leading the world.'
Slotkin highlighted the contrast between Trump's admiration for dictators and his friendly approach towards adversaries, and the Democratic Party's vision of leadership based on American values. She emphasized the significance of values that guided the nation through historic events like the shores of Normandy and the Cold War, asserting that America should inspire and lead both domestically and internationally.
