If you're planning a holiday abroad this Easter, your trip could be more costly than you're expecting - particularly if you hire a car. New research has revealed price hikes for vehicle rentals in popular overseas destinations.
Holidaymakers hiring a car for Easter breaks are being hit with an average price hike of 72% compared to before the coronavirus pandemic, according to Which? The typical cost of a seven-day rental is more than £100 above 2019 levels in seven of the nine holiday hotspots the consumer champion looked at.
The largest price rise was in the US - more than doubling from £239 to £537. Rates in Spain's Balearic Islands rose from £134 to £310, while the average price in Cyprus jumped from £131 to £248 and in Italy it increased threefold from £119 to £362.
