A renowned British photojournalist was allegedly stabbed to death by his son while hiking in California.
Paul Lowe, who made his name covering the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war, was found dead on Saturday October 12.
The 61-year-old had been stabbed in the neck.
The Los Angeles County Sherrifs Department said they “responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call for service on Mount Baldy Road, near Stoddard Canyon Falls, in the San Gabriel Mountains”.
They added: “When the deputies arrived on scene, they discovered a White male adult suffering from trauma to his upper torso. San Bernardino Fire Department personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
“A White male adult was seen driving away from the scene and was subsequently involved in a solo traffic collision a few miles away. The male was detained pending further investigation.”
Local authorities said the man arrested by the authorities on suspicion of murder was Mr Lowe’s son Emir who is due to appear in court in relation to the attack.
Abadzic-Lowe was arrested on suspicion of killing his father based on “evidence at the scene” and statements from the son and other witnesses, authorities told the Los Angeles Times.Tributes have been paid to Mr Lowe who was a professor at the University of Arts London (UAL) and a visiting professor at the Department of War Studies at King’s College London (KCL).
A KCL spokesman praised his “boundless energy, warmth, creativity, initiative and enthusiasm”.

The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre said he “left an enduring mark on the world through his photography, advocacy, and commitment to peace and justice”.
