Renowned Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs dies at age of 84

• One of Nigeria’s best-known actors, Olu Jacobs, has died at the age of 84.
• The veteran of ‘Nollywood’, as Nigeria’s film industry is known, trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and enjoyed a career spanning several decades in theatre, TV, and films.
• He also worked as a producer and stage director and co-founded the media and entertainment company Lufodo Group with his wife, fellow actor Joke Silva.
• In a statement, Silva described her late husband as “the Lion of Lufodo” and said that his life was “well lived and fought”.
• She also asked for “all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our family’s privacy at this time”.
