Weapon carrying thugs battered a man with a plank of wood on a Renfrewshire street in the middle of the day.
The 34-year-old fled to a nearby pub for help after being seriously injured in the attack.
The drama unfolded on Graham Street, Johnstone at 4.10pm yesterday. Police say the pair made off in a small black car in the direction of MacDowall Street while their victim headed to The Hagg Bar for help.

He was rushed to Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital by ambulance and has since been released.
Officers investigating the incident described the first suspect as 6ft, slim, with a dark stubble beard, bags under his eyes and a scar on the right of his face. He was dressed in black.
His accomplice is also 6ft, slim, but is bald and clean shaven and was wearing all white clothes and trainers.
Detective Constable James Campbell, from Paisley CID, said: "While enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this attack, we believe it to be targeted.
"It was a vicious assault that happened in the middle of the day, weapons were used and the man has been badly injured.
"We would appeal to anyone who may have seen the attack take place, who may have doorbell or dash-cam footage capturing the incident, or who has any information that will assist the investigation to come forward.
"Information can be passed to police via 101, quoting reference number 2499 of 18 November, 2022, when calling.
"Alternatively, details can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
