The Renfrewshire Council election count is expected to kick off at 9am on Friday, taking place at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley.
A total of 43 councillors are set to be elected across 12 wards in the local authority, with each ward represented by three or four elected members.
This election is a digital count, with the ballot boxes for Ward 1, Renfrew North and Braehead, opened first.
The ballot papers are then scanned and the number in each box counted to ensure it matches that recorded on the returning officer's ballot paper accounts.
Once the box total is verified, any doubtful papers are sent for first stage adjudication – any papers which cannot be allowed at this stage will be referred to final stage adjudication with the returning officer or one of his deputes.
Once all votes are verified and adjudicated, the number of votes cast for each candidate will be counted by the digital system.
This same process will be carried out sequentially for each of the 12 wards.
The order, as detailed by the council, will be:
Ward 1 : Renfrew North and Braehead – four councillors
Ward 2 : Renfrew South and Gallowhill – three councillors
Ward 3 : Paisley Northeast and Ralston – three councillors
Ward 4 : Paisley Northwest – four councillors
Ward 5 : Paisley East and Central – three councillors
Ward 6 : Paisley Southeast – three councillors

Ward 10 : Houston, Crosslee and Linwood – four councillors
Ward 11 : Bishopton, Bridge of Weir and Langbank – three councillors
Ward 12 : Erskine and Inchinnan – four councillors
Alan Russell, the returning officer for Renfrewshire, will announce the results of all 12 wards.
Wards will be announced individually after their results have been counted and verified.
Russell will share the provisional result with candidates and their agents, who can ask for a recount.
However, this can be refused if it is found to be an unreasonable request.
The returning officer will then declare on stage the number of votes cast for each candidate, before announcing the names of those elected as councillors for Renfrewshire Council.
The results will also be published as they are announced on screen on the council website.
