Remaining areas Cardinals should address in free agency

The Arizona Cardinals have made some minor moves so far in free agency.

Through two weeks, they, have mostly brought back their own players and added depth.

The one new expected starter they signed is linebacker Kyzir White.

But at the end of the second week of the new league year, the Cardinals still have a number of areas that need addressing.

What positions should we expect them to address still?

Center

Yes, they added Hjelte Froholdt. Yes he has started at center four times in his NFL career, but it would seem like a bad plan to enter the draft with him as your plan.

Expect them to add a starting-caliber, veteran center, no matter their plans for the draft.

Running back depth

James Conner is the clear No. 1 back right now. They return 2022 sixth-round pick Keaontay Ingram and re-signed Corey Clement. But Ingram is unproven and Clement is more a special teams player.

Expect a veteran depth player. Kareem Hunt makes a lot of sense.

Tight end depth

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

They are going to count on second-year pro Trey McBride and Zach Ertz will be back some time from his torn ACL, but they will need depth tight ends who can block and play special teams.

Defensive line (interior)

They did sign former Titan Kevin Strong and bring back Jonathan Ledbetter, but that interior of Rashard Lawrence, Leki Fotu, Ledbetter and Strong doesn’t feel complete.

Defensive end

2022 rookie Cameron Thomas presumably will transition to defensive end and they added former Seahawk L.J. Collier, but another veteran pass rusher, even a minor one, should be expected.

Cornerback

Joe Rondone-Arizona Republic

They brought back Antonio Hamilton. Byron Murphy left. Hamilton and Marco Wilson are the current starters with 2022 rookie Christian Matthew as the depth.

The Cardinals should add a starting-caliber player to the room.

Specialists

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Matt Prater returns on a two-year deal. That seems to signal that they probably will bring back long snapper Aaron Brewer and likely punter Andy Lee.

Do they really plan on relying on Joe Fortunato and Nolan Cooney?
