Jamie Laing has confessed he travelled almost 200 miles to get into the University of Leeds after being rejected.
The former Made In Chelsea star and entrepreneur often speaks on his podcast Private Parts about his time as a student in Leeds and what life was like in the city. Recently the presenter confessed it was not easy to get into the Russel Group university.
Jamie, who according to Celebrity Net Worth is now worth around £7.1million, was sadly rejected from Leeds, his first choice university, after failing his exams. He got on a train from London to Leeds, knocked on the door of the drama department, and asked for another chance.
Speaking to co-host, and co-star on Made In Chelsea Alex Mytton, Jamie said: "I went on the train by myself, without telling my mum, parents, anyone. I just went up there and knocked on the drama department door and said, 'Hi, I failed my exams, but I really want to come here'. And they went, ‘well we’re fully subscribed."
He added: "And I said well I can have a tour, and this guy, the head of the drama department took me on a tour around the theatre department in Leeds. And he said 'listen I admire your courage'."
Jamie said he the went home to London, reapplied on his UCAS page to University of Leeds. Soon after he was given an unconditional offer.
The 33-year-old studied theatre and performance before going on to star in reality TV, launched a confectionary company, host two podcasts, and present TV and radio. His sweet company Candy Kittens saw a turnover from his first opening night was a staggering £25,000.
Thanks to his family's links to the McVitie's biscuit brand, he wasn’t short of a few pounds before he found fame, but that hasn't stopped him from boosting his income with a successful career in showbiz. Jamie recently got engaged to former Made In Chelsea star Sophie Habbo. The pair are getting married in Spain in 2023.
