Copenhagen-based sales and financing outlet REinvent has been making waves in the entertainment industry with its recent deals on the Danish/German thriller 'Oxen'. Produced by Scandi major SF Studios in collaboration with Germany's Square One for TV2 Denmark and ZDF, the show has garnered attention from international networks. GSN Networks in the UK, AMC in Spain/Portugal, and Orion Group in Poland have all acquired the rights to broadcast 'Oxen'. Lumière has also secured the rights for Benelux, with more deals pending in the U.S. and Latin America.
'Oxen' boasts a stellar creative team, including director Jannik Johansen known for his work on 'Borgen' and 'White Night', as well as the Emmy-award winning duo of Mai Brostrøm and Peter Thorsboe. Adapted from Jens Henrik Jensen's best-selling book series, the show follows veteran Niels Oxen, played by Jacob Lohmann, as he navigates a complex web of intrigue and murder.
Johansen, who helmed the entire series, was drawn to the intricacies of the plot and the dualities within the characters. Inspired by American conspiracy thrillers from the '70s and the works of David Fincher, Johansen aimed for a realistic and naturalistic visual style with minimal camera movements.
'Oxen' premiered on TV2 Denmark to great acclaim, attracting 1.3 million viewers on average. The show is set to debut on ZDF on March 4, 2024, adding to its growing international presence.
In addition to 'Oxen', REinvent's Berlinale lineup also features other premium shows like the Norwegian suspense thriller 'Fatal Crossing' and the Finnish suspense drama 'Seconds'. With a knack for selecting compelling and diverse content, REinvent continues to establish itself as a key player in the global television market.
