HARTFORD, Conn. — The field at what is expected to be a stacked Travelers Championship continues to grow, as reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year Scottie Scheffler has committed to play at TPC River Highlands this summer.
Scheffler, who spent time as the No. 1-ranked player of the world this season, will make his fourth straight appearance in the event. The 2022 Masters winner joins world No. 3 Rory McIlroy and defending champion Xander Schauffele in the field.
“It’s exciting to welcome Scottie back to the Travelers Championship, coming off such an amazing season that’s carried into this year,” Travelers Championship Tournament Director Nathan Grube said in a release. “The fans can expect to continue to see top players like Scottie joining our field in the weeks to come.”
Scheffler won PGA Tour Player of the Year honors last season after his three-stroke victory at the Masters, his first major title, and three other PGA Tour victories, as well as four second-place finishes and 11 top-10 performances.
Already this season, Scheffler has won the WM Phoenix Open and has four top-10 finishes in seven starts.
“Scottie is a great player and an even better person, it’s been great seeing him have so much success,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “I’m excited that Scottie will be joining us as we build the best field that this event and our fans have ever seen.”
The 2023 Travelers Championship will be held from June 19-25.
