Regan Smith joins Kaulig Ram program for two NASCAR Truck races

Regan Smith is getting back behind the wheel of a NASCAR Craftsman Truck for the first time since 2017. The racer-turned-reporter will drive the No. 25 RAM 1500 for Kaulig Racing at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 17, and at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 9.

Smith was on the broadcast for the New Hampshire Truck race when this was announced, but apparently even he wasn't aware about the fact that he was also running the Charlotte race!

Smith has 468 starts across all three national divisions of NASCAR, but none since the 2019 season. The 2014 NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series championship runner-up, Smith has six wins at the secondary level of NASCAR. He also has a victory at the highest level of the sport, winning a crown jewel when he captured the checkered flag in the 2011 Southern 500 at Darlington.

However, he's never won a Truck race before. In 36 career NCTS starts, Smith has one top five and seven top tens with a best finish of fifth.

Kaulig has used a variety of drivers in its 'free-agent' truck as the team embarks on its first Truck season with Ram. The lineup has featured Tony Stewart, Travis Pastrana, Conor Daly, Clint Bowyer, Jamie McMurray, Ty Dillon, Colin Braun, Ryan Newman, AJ Allmendinger, Corey LaJoie, Parker Kligerman, Elliott Sadler, and Carson Ferguson.

Its best showing came at Watkins Glen, when Allmendinger wheeled the No. 25 to a sixth-place finish.
