From artificial intelligence leaders like Nvidia, Broadcom and Palantir Technologies to more under-the-radar IPO Leaders, there are literally thousands of potential stocks to buy and watch. The IBD Stock Screener was designed to streamline your stock research and zero in on companies that meet your specific criteria.
This stock research tool allows you to filter the entire IBD database of nearly all U.S.-traded companies based on unique stock ratings and exclusive stocks lists. You can even create your own library of custom screens to scan across virtually all publicly traded companies.
Full access to this feature is included with a subscription to IBD Digital.
Stock Screener: Fast And Focused Research And Analysis
The IBD Stock Screener allows investors to build and run filters as narrowly targeted or as "loose" as desired.
The tool features a wide range of available criteria, including:
• IBD Composite Rating, EPS Rating and more.
• Daily price and percent change.
• Volume percent change and average daily volume.
• IPO date.
• Dividend yield.
• Most recent quarter's sales percent change.
• Estimated EPS percent change for the current quarter and year.
• Pretax margin.
The stock screener offers two core approaches that let you either:
- Filter existing IBD stock lists like the IBD 50.
- Create custom screens to scour all publicly traded stocks.
Creating custom screens to flag IBD 50 stocks with, say, 20% or higher estimated EPS growth, or new IPOs in the last two years with 50%-plus growth, gives just a hint of what's possible.

Filter IBD Stock Lists For Specific Criteria
To speed up your stock research and analysis, one option is to start with prebuilt stock lists like the IBD 50, Sector Leaders, Big Cap 20, Stock Spotlight and IPO Leaders.
First, within the screener, you can quickly browse each list. From there, you can filter each list by selecting and applying various criteria, like those outlined in the bullets above.
Take the IBD 50 as an example. Before adding any filters, the list will always show 50 companies, as you would expect from the name. But once you apply your own filters, the list will automatically adjust to whatever number of companies meet the criteria you set.
During earnings season, this filter can help you zero in on IBD 50 stocks meeting whatever minimum growth estimates you're looking for in the upcoming quarter or year. From there, you could tighten or loosen the filter by adding, removing or adjusting any of the settings.
Tip: All of the companies on IBD's premier lists like the IBD 50 and Sectors Leaders feature an "IBD's Take" with technical analysis for that particular stock. As shown in this example for Clearwater Analytics (as of Oct. 25, 2024), IBD's Take provides information on any current base and buy zone. This is especially helpful for anyone not yet familiar with how to read stock charts.
Use Stock Screener To Build Custom Lists & Filters
In addition to filtering preset lists like the IBD 50, the stock screener lets you build custom screens from scratch and apply them to the entire universe of publicly traded companies.
Just set your filters of interest, then run the screen to pull up a list of all the stocks that meet those specific criteria.
How To Screen IBD's Entire Database Of Stocks
Inside the IBD Stock Screener, you'll see the "IBD Stock Lists" tab. Hover over that, then scroll down and click on "IBD Data Tables." That pulls up the entire database of nearly 10,000 stocks.
From there, click "Add Screens" to build a screen. The top-line categories are Smart Select Ratings, Price, Volume and Other. Within each of those categories, you'll find a wide range of additional filters to choose from.
Build. Run. Export. Repeat.
With the IBD Stock Screener, you can create multiple lists with different objectives. Whether it's to find new IPOs with explosive growth or top-rated IBD 50 companies with huge earnings estimates rising on big volume, you can easily build your own extensive library of custom screens. And from within the tool, you can export those lists into another program such as Microsoft Word or Google Sheets to do further research.
In other words, for every investing strategy, the IBD Stock Screener can help streamline your research to find the stocks that meet your criteria.
Tip: When you first log into the screener, a tour pops up to walk you through the basic functionality. If you don't see the tour, click the information icon at the top right of the tool to pull it up.
