Britain’s relationship with the EU is “arguably even more important” than trading links with the US, the Chancellor has said ahead of a meeting with her American counterpart.

Rachel Reeves is expected to discuss a potential US-UK trade deal when she meets Treasury secretary Scott Bessent on Friday afternoon.
