Ava Phillippe has said she is "endlessly inspired" by her mother Reese Witherspoon and described the actress as a "force of nature" amid her divorce from Jim Toth.
Legally Blonde star Reese, 47, announced she is divorcing her husband Jim after 12 years of marriage and said it has been a "difficult decision" to make.
Just one day before the split was announced, Ava took to Instagram to share a heartfelt tribute to her mum.
The 23-year-old posted a picture of Reese while she enjoyed a cocktail at a restaurant and wrote: "HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to this legendary lady I'm lucky enough to call my mama! She is truly a force of nature.
"While I am endlessly inspired by her and so proud of all she's accomplished, what I admire most is the way she moves through the world as a curious, considerate, gracious, and loving person.
"With each year, I find even more reasons to love her, and I am thrilled to celebrate another year of her bright light in my life! Love you always @reesewitherspoon."
Reese was emotional over her daughter's kind words and commented: " How did I get so lucky to have a daughter like you??"
Fans were also loving the heartfelt message, with one person writing: "I guess I cried reading this caption."
Another person commented: " Now THAT'S a beautiful tribute! A daughter's admiration is the greatest gift!"
"One of my favourite mother/daughter duos," a third fan gushed.
A day later, Reese took to Instagram to announce she was separating from her husband Jim.
The statement read: "We have some personal news to share... It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce.
"We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together.
"Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.
"These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time."
According to reports, no records of a divorce filing could be found in Los Angeles Superior Court.
The former couple tied the knot on March 26, 2011 in a stunning ceremony in Ojai, California.
Reese and Jim, 52, were first linked in February 2010 and it's believed they met at work as Jim worked as a talent agent and co-head of motion picture talent at Creative Artist Industry, where Reese was a client.
