Ayrshire dad Scott Brown won the Ultra Tour of Arran last weekend – having pulled out the year before.
The Irvine gym boss was thrilled to win the two-day off-road running adventure race after Covid put a stop to his attempt in 2021.
Proud Scott said: "I really wanted to win this one, it was like getting my redemption for having to pull out of the race last year.
"I completed the first day but was then notified of a track and trace connected to me, so I did the right thing and went home just in case I had it; I didn't but it was better to be safe than sorry. "
The Ultra Tour of Arran takes two full days and three nights to complete.
Scott explained: "I ran 28 miles on Saturday and then another 30 miles on Sunday. It took me four hours on Saturday which was half-coastal and half-rolling hills from Brodick to the south of the island.
"And then on Sunday I set off earlier and didn't finish until 7pm because that had a lot of elevation; around 7,000ft.
"Overall, over the two days, I was 45 minutes ahead of the other competitors. The weather was really good, really superb.
"I went along with one of my clients, Sandy. This was her first Ultra and I trained her for it, she did really well and came in maybe around fifth place."
In six weeks' time, Scott will be taking on a Munroe challenge and then, in August, he will attempt the race across Scotland in a bid to raise funds for a prosthetic limb for one of his gym clients.
"I want to say a massive thanks to my family for coming over to support me and a huge well done to Sandy for completing her first Ultra with a brilliant time under her belt," Scott added.
