Redditch underpass killing: 17-year-old charged with murder

A teenage boy has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Redditch, Worcestershire, as more details emerge about the incident.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused in connection with the death of a 41-year-old man who was stabbed in the chest at around 8.30 am on Tuesday. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital, where he died shortly afterwards.

Police said the stabbing took place in an underpass linking Longdon Close, Martley Close and the Woodrow Centre. The area was cordoned off as officers and forensic teams carried out investigations.

A second 17-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and remains in custody. According to The Sun, both individuals are linked to the ongoing investigation.

Detectives from West Mercia Police’s Major Investigations Unit said extensive enquiries are underway, including reviewing CCTV footage and conducting house-to-house visits. Officers are working to establish the full circumstances leading up to the attack.

The accused is due to appear at Kidderminster Magistrates’ Court, where proceedings are expected to begin. Police have not released further details about the victim as formal identification is ongoing.

The incident has led to increased police presence in the area, with officers continuing enquiries. Further developments are expected as the case progresses.
