Red Sox top prospect Marcelo Mayer was representing Boston at the MLB Futures Game, and he paid tribute to his organization with some amazing custom cleats.
The shortstop showed up at T-Mobile Park in Seattle donning a pair of Nike cleats with actual dirt from Fenway Park in the swoosh logo. The green cleats match the color of the Green Monster, and the recognizable scoreboard is imprinted on the design. The cleats even included a nod to the 2023 All-Star host city, Seattle, which is listed as the away team on the scoreboard.

He wore the Fenway Park-themed cleat on his left foot and wore a cleat inspired by his hometown of San Diego on his right foot.
Mayer collected one hit, a single, in his lone plate appearance in the Futures Game.
The 20-year-old ranks as MLB Pipeline’s No. 4 prospect, coming in behind Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday, Reds phenom Elly De La Cruz and Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio.
The Red Sox drafted Mayer with the No. 4 pick in the 2021 MLB draft and he’s since been working his way up the minor leagues. He was promoted to Double-A Portland in May, where he’s hit six home runs in 29 games.
