KOLKATA: Lakshmir Bhandar is now set to debut in the Red Road Independence Day parade.
Bengal government is gearing up for the parade to showcase its best schemes. Among the 10 tableaus would be Kanayshree, Lakshmir Bhandar, Swasthya Sathi and Khadyasathi.
Even the Taruner Swapno scheme - distribution of mobiles and tablets to the HS students - might be a focal point.
Last year the state government tableaus on Duare Sarkar and Khela Hobe were highly appreciated during the I-Day parade on Red Road. The state government is planning to pay tributes to the freedom fighters including Netaji through a tableau - Shradhanjali. There will also be a tableau of the Kolkata Police based on 3D designs.
There are also plans to highlight the Durga Puja on I-Day as the Unesco accorded Intangible Cultural Heritage tag to the festival last year. A major Durga puja carnival is also going to take place on Red Road. During the I-Day programme CM Mamata Banerjee will hand over jobs to the kins of those who died in a landslide in Manipur last month.
