Residents across Nottinghamshire have been sharing their delight and surprise on social media after spotting something unusual in the sky. The Red Arrows were practicing on the morning of Wednesday, March 22, and completed a number of manoeuvres before forming a large heart in the sky at around 9am.
People across Nottinghamshire could see the wonderful display, including those in Newark, Bingham, Southwell, Syerston and Hoveringham. Sally Ward, 48, of Cotgrave, was swimming at Love Open Water in Hoveringham when she spotted the display.
She said: "It was the best possible start to the day. Cold water, beautiful sunshine and our own display from the Red Arrows.
"I'm a huge fan so this was just so exciting." Sally described the display as "such a delight." The Red Arrows have been based at RAF Syerston since January for training following the closure of RAF Scampton. For a number of weeks, residents in local towns and villages have been able to hear the team practice, and look forward to spotting them in the sky.
Although some residents in Syerston were divided over the move and expressed concerns for the local wildlife and the base becoming a tourist spot for aviation fans wanting to catch a glimpse of the Red Arrows.
