Red Arrow pilot sends out emergency alert at at 2,300 ft after bird smashes into plane

A Red Arrow emergency alert was reported over England this morning after a jet came into trouble in the air because of a bird.

Reports show the Hawk T1 aircraft flying over the East Midlands at 8.40am on Wednesday, squawking 7700 above Lincoln.

The code is used to indicate an emergency situation.
