ESPN “College GameDay” host Rece Davis has a new No. 1 in his top 10 college football team rankings. Davis released his updated rankings ahead Week 4 of the 2024 season.
Davis no longer ranks the Georgia Bulldogs as his No. 1 team after the Dawgs had a close call in their 13-12 win at Kentucky in Week 3. Davis now ranks the Texas Longhorns as the No. 1 team in the country. The Longhorns’ 31-12 road win at Michigan is one of the best performances of any college football team this season.
Davis is a voter in the Associated Press poll. He dropped Georgia to No. 2 in his rankings. Davis elevated the Tennessee Volunteers to No. 4 as quarterback Nico Iamaleava looks impressive through three weeks. The Volunteers face a big test in Week 4 on the road against the Oklahoma Sooners.
Davis is lower than most on the Alabama Crimson Tide, who he ranks as the No. 7 team in the country. Alabama is coming off a bye week in Week 4, but has a clash with No. 2 Georgia at home the following week on Sept. 28.
