Rebel Wilson has spoken about the challenges she has faced being the main “breadwinner” of her family while juggling her new role as a mum.
The comedian and actress, 42, gave an update on family and work life following the arrival of her daughter Royce last year via surrogate with girlfriend Ramona Agruma.
Wilson admitted that it hasn’t been easy adjusting to motherhood as she continues to work in her demanding profession.
The Pitch Perfect star told Today: “You hold the baby and cut the umbilical cord and literally from - from that moment on, you’re just like - it was just, like, amazing and so emotional.
“It’s really challenging. I have this big international career and - you know, I’m, like, the breadwinner of my family - I like to think.”
Wilson added: “So it’s really challenging too, like, ‘Well, now how do I do all the things and be a great mother and great partner and all of that?’”
The Australian star was seen jetting off to a sunny location with girlfriend Agruma, 38, to welcome in the New Year, after celebrating their first Christmas with their baby girl.
Wilson went public with girlfriend Agruma in July last year, writing in a post at the time: “I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince…but maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess #loveislove.”
Four months later, the actress announced the arrival of their “miracle” daughter, after what she revealed had been a dream of hers that took “years in the making”.
Introducing her daughter in a photo, Wilson wrote on Instagram: “Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate.
“I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.
“Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!! I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club”.
