Rebel Wilson's incredible 5.3 stone weight loss achieved through balanced lifestyle

Rebel Wilson's recent weight loss has wowed millions, as the star has reportedly dropped an incredible 5.3 stone since the beginning of 2020.

The Aussie actress, known for her roles in Bridesmaids and Pitch Perfect has worked incredibly hard to look her best at the age of 42. She has achieved a healthy lifestyle that doesn't encroach on her happiness and has spoken openly about fluctuation, which Rebel doesn't let bother her too much.

She said that her goal of dropping weight became a serious mission in 2020, which she called her "Year of Health". The star said in a 2020 BBC interview: "I knew deep down inside that some of the emotional eating behaviours I was doing were not healthy. I did not need a tub of ice cream every night.”

Speaking on the Life Uncut podcast in January this year, Rebel said she was a "normal size" when she was younger, but gained weight in her twenties after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Rebel also revealed that being plus-sized was one of the factors behind her comedy career.

Her goal during 2020, which she was able to achieve by November of that year, was to drop 60lbs - that's just shy of 4.3 stone - and to find new ways to love herself through improved health.

Rebel shared her journey and was very candid about her weight loss, and has continued to be open about her health since having dropped another stone.

How did Rebel Wilson lose weight?

Clean eating

Rather than opting for any fads or unhealthy 'lose weight fast' style diets , Rebel committed herself to a sustainable and active lifestyle that allowed for her to improve her health and happiness. She started with her diet, which at first involved cutting down on daily calories.

She said in an Instagram Live towards the end of 2020 that she was staying “under 1,500 calories because of [her] body type”.

During the "Year of Health," her goal was to stick to 1,500 calories or less when losing weight, reports Eating Well . Now that she's maintaining her weight, Wilson has adjusted up to 2,000 to 2,500 calories per day.

"You can't out train a bad diet, which is something I should have known but didn't really know until this year," Rebel said.

Regular exercise

Rebel found that walking was a great way to drop pounds as it was accessible and allowed her to simply plug in a podcast and go.

"I learned that moderate - not even fast-paced - walking is the best way for me to lose unnecessary body fat," the star told Shape magazine .

Getting her daily steps in was a main factor, but that's not to say that she wasn't working hard in the gym as well. Rebel worked with respected personal trainer Jono Castano, who has said that when working out with him, Rebel has been " putting in the yards 7 days a week!"

Jono has been known to focus on high intensity interval training, and Rebel has been seen taking part in stair sprints and battle rope swinging.

A healthy mindset

A big part of Rebel's weight loss has been her mindset, she loves herself and always has always been confident about her body. Because of this her health journey came as a result of self-love, which is no doubt a strong motivator.

"I like to think I looked good at all sizes and stuff and I’ve always been quite confident," she told Women’s Health . "So, it wasn’t like I wasn’t confident and then now I’m, like, super confident."

The star also doesn't let little knockbacks bother her too much, saying in an Instagram post: " I just noticed I put on 3 kgs on my holiday. I’m at an amazing all-inclusive resort…I’ve lost all self-control.

"But, you know what? I can get up tomorrow, and go to the gym, and hydrate, and eat healthy, and love myself."

The Australian actress is set to star in upcoming independent drama film "The Almond and the Seahorse"
