Rebekah Vardy and Coleen Rooney's next moves as Wagatha Christie trial ends

A bitter row dubbed "Wagatha Christie" has finally come to its conclusion after rumbling on for almost three years.

When Coleen Rooney accused Rebekah Vardy of leaking fake stories about her to the S*n newspaper, the latter vehemently denied the allegations. Mrs Vardy, 40, hit back by filing a lawsuit against Mrs Rooney for defamation.

But today (Friday), a judge ruled Mrs Vardy "was party to the disclosure to The S*n" of the false stories.

Now the high-profile case has drawn to a close, both WAGs can resume their family lives.

But there are also huge legal costs. At a hearing in March last year, it was revealed Mrs Vardy had a costs budget for the case of nearly £900,000, while Mrs Rooney’s costs were estimated to be about £400,000.

However, it is believed the case has now exceeded those budgets and the legal costs – including for the trial over seven days – will be at least £2 million in total.

Coleen walks away from the bitter feud with her reputation intact, with her husband, Wayne Rooney, having just taken a new $1 million-a-year job managing Washington’s DC United in the USA. Talent manager Jonathan Shalit told MailOnline he thinks the WAG will now easily be able to command deals with 'family brands', yet revealed he expects she'll turn her back on the offerings.

He said: "I don't think Coleen is someone who particularly seeks fame, I don't think she seeks to go on that celebrity roller coaster. You don't get the impressions that's what her ambitions are."

Meanwhile, having lost the libel case, Rebekah Vardy will have to pay Coleen Rooney a considerable sum of money.

Both WAGs will see their high profile case turned into a drama documentary on Channel 4. The broadcaster will create a dramatic reconstruction of the 'Wagatha Christie' court case. An air-date has yet to be announced.
