Kris Boyd will no longer play for Rangers at the Tennent's Sixes this weekend.

The former Ibrox striker had been included as part of the Rangers side to play under manager Barry Ferguson.

However, it has now been confirmed that he will no longer be available to compete in the Legends-style small-sided tournament at Braehead.

According to The Scottish Sun, Boyd picked up a knee injury while playing five-a-side football and won't be able to play.

Lee McCulloch is also out of the indoor football tournament.

However, Rangers have announced that Martyn Waghorn and Daniel Candeias will replace Boyd and McCulloch in the squad.

A Rangers update read: "Martyn Waghorn and Daniel Candeias are the latest players confirmed for the Rangers squad at this weekend’s SPFL Tennent’s Sixes.

"Waghorn spent two seasons at Ibrox, netting 28 goals in 36 appearances in his first campaign as Rangers won the Scottish Championship title, securing a return to the top-flight.

"Portuguese winger Candeias also spent two seasons at Rangers from 2017 to 2019, scoring 14 competitive goals and contributing a number of assists.

"Lee McCulloch and Kris Boyd, who were previously announced as part of the squad, are now unavailable and will no longer take part, with Andy Halliday now captain of the team."
