Kemar Roofe made an instant impact on his return to Rangers action against Ross County. However, he won't be involved in the crucial Champions League showdown against PSV Eindhoven.
The striker, 30, made his first start in 16 months in the Highlands as Rangers claimed a 2-0 win in the Scottish Premiership.
Roofe opened the scoring for his side and proved his quality on coming back from injury.
However, he is not eligible to play against PSV on Wednesday after being left out of the Champions League squad for the play-off round.
Roofe was left out of the squad registration for the Ibrox side due to the injury issues.
And while it is disappointing for the striker to miss out, he admitted he was aware of the plans before the official confirmation of the registration.
While Roofe will not feature against PSV in the second leg in the Netherlands, he would be able to be registered in the Rangers European squad at the next stage - whether Rangers progress to the Champions League group stage or drop into the Europa League.
On missing the match against PSV, Roofe said: "Obviously, I would have loved a chance on Wednesday night.
"But the timing wasn’t right and I’m now looking forward to Celtic next week.
"I’ll always turn up for big games and be ready.
"I knew before the European squad was announced and he told me the plan.
"It’s a long season. Hopefully, the boys do the business against PSV, qualify and I’ll be available."
