There was "no drama" between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck at the premiere of her new film this week, a source has revealed - despite recent speculation about them.
Jennifer, 53, and her husband Ben, 50, were among the guests in attendance at the launch her latest project The Mother in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening (May 10).
The couple were photographed on the red carpet, where there was a seemingly tense exchange between them at one point at the Westwood Regency Village Theater.
It looked as though there was friction between them in some photos, with Ben appearing to sternly point towards something and Jennifer also making pointing gestures.
A source close to the couple however has dismissed the speculation and revealed exclusively to The Mirror why Ben left his wife on the red carpet following their animated interaction.
The source told us that the situation wasn't as it had initially seemed. They said: "There was no drama on the red carpet". The source added: "They're very much in love".
Footage from the event had provided some context to the seemingly tense exchange and shown that moments later Ben parted ways with Jennifer on the red carpet.
Discussing his departure, the source said Ben left Jennifer after posing for photos as he went to meet some of their respective children whilst his wife continued to work.
They reminded that the premiere was for Jennifer's project and so following Ben's departure from the carpet she did interviews to promote the newly-released Netflix film.
Footage from the premiere was released this week and it suggested that the exchange - which had appeared tense - had actually been an interaction about logistics.
It suggests that the photos that showed Ben pointing and looking seemingly tense were whilst he was talking about where the couple should each go after posing for photos.
Ben was seen heading off in a different direction to Jennifer - whom he married last year - just moments after their interaction on the red carpet and after posing for photos.
Amid the speculation, an expert lip reader shared their thoughts on footage from the premiere, suggesting that whilst the couple may have seemed frustrated at times, they seemed to primarily discuss where and how to pose.
