'The cold snaps your face' - the reality of sleeping rough in a brutal Liverpool winter
"Look at my hands, go on feel them."
Michael Davenport thrusts his hands towards me. They are blistered, with patches of black and blue spread around. As I reach out and hold them, they feel icy cold and limp.
"My hands are below freezing, I've got no feeling in them," says Michael after another night on the perishing streets of Liverpool.

When I chat to Michael, just 33-years-old, he is sat with his wife, Lesley Lacky, Both are huddled beneath an overhanging building outside Moorfields train station. The couple are covered in several blankets and sleeping bags. They hold each other for the entire time we speak - I get the impression this is done out of both love and necessity.
Michael has been sleeping on the streets of the city for two weeks now after he was asked to leave a hostel. He said he was kicked out after he and his wife were robbed and he retaliated.

Paedophile handed phone over to police and said 'it's all on there'
A paedophile handed his phone over and said "it's all on there" when police raided his home.
Andrew Teale chatted online about theme parks with what he believed was a young girl under the pseudonym "Andy4Fun". But the 43-year-old soon turned the conversation sexual, bragging that he had had a threesome and engaging in bizarre chat about a woman performing a sex act with a carrot.
He then exposed himself while on a Skype video chat with the supposed youngster. But, unbeknown to him, the married dad was actually communicating with an undercover officer.

Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday afternoon, Thursday, that the decoy account had been set up as part of the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit's Operation Meteor. Neil Bisarya, prosecuting, said that Teale first got in touch with what he believed was a 12-year-old child online using the profile name Andy4Fun on January 10 this year.
He messaged her saying "hey, what are you looking for" and told her he was "Andy from Warrington". The pervert asked "why she was off school" and if she was "ok talking to an older guy", before saying it "made him feel old" talking to her.

Most and least deprived areas in Merseyside mapped
The most and least deprived areas of Merseyside have been revealed in census data.
Using data collected in last year's census, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) produced an interactive map which shows which areas are affected the most and least. The ONS uses four 'dimensions' of deprivation, which are education, employment, health and housing.
In the ONS's terms, a household is classified as deprived in the education dimension if no one has at least level 2 education and no one aged 16 to 18 years is a full-time student. In terms of employment, a household is deemed to be deprived if any member, not a full-time student, is either unemployed or disabled.

A household is classified as deprived in the health dimension if any person in the household has general health that is bad or very bad or is identified as disabled. For housing, the ONS classifies a household as deprived if the accommodation is either overcrowded, in a shared dwelling, or has no central heating.
On the map, lighter colours (from yellow) indicate the most deprived areas and darker colours (to dark blue) indicate the least deprived. Here, we list the most and least deprived areas in each borough of Merseyside.
