Real Madrid have informed Liverpool of their desire to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold on a pre-contract as the right-back nears free agency.
That’s according to talkSPORT, who are reporting Los Blancos are moving forward with their plans to sign the 26-year-old when his Liverpool contract expires next summer.
Alexander-Arnold, who has represented the Reds since the age of six in their youth academy before progressing to become one of the club’s best ever talents at senior level, is rumoured to be seeking a new challenge.
Madrid’s current right-back Dani Carvajal suffered an ACL tear in October and time appears to be running out for the 32-year-old – with club president Florentino Perez seeing Alexander-Arnold as the perfect succession plan.
There is little doubt that Alexander-Arnold’s good pal and England teammate Jude Bellingham has been in his ear trying to sell the move, where he could also team up with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Can Liverpool tempt Alexander-Arnold into signing a new deal?
Arne Slot has enjoyed a dream start to life as Liverpool manager but things could start to turn in the opposite direction if the club can’t lock down their star players on new contracts.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold are all set to leave Liverpool as free agents at the end of the season and the Reds will have to get to work as soon as possible to keep their flagship talents.
Regarded as one of the best full-backs in Premier League history, Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a decorated career at Liverpool to date – including individual honours such as the PFA Young Player of the Season and three selections in the PFA Team of the Year.
He’s won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup twice, Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup as a Red – so he may feel he’s done everything he can at Liverpool and prefer a new challenge.
