Real Madrid vs Chelsea: Prediction, kick-off time, team news, TV, live stream, h2h results, odds

Chelsea’s last hope of salvaging something from their season resumes tonight as they travel to face Real Madrid in a hugely anticipated Champions League clash.

Frank Lampard’s second spell in charge of the club got off to a miserable start over the weekend with defeat to Wolves, but he insisted it will be “completely different” at the Bernabeu.

That will need to be the case for Chelsea in the first leg of the quarter-final tie, with the Premier League campaign a write-off and the Blues hoping a deep European run can lift the mood.

The immediate priority is keeping themselves in the tie heading back to Stamford Bridge, but that will be no easy task against the defending champions. Real brushed aside Liverpool in the last-16 and knocked Chelsea out at this stage of the competition 12 months ago.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Real Madrid vs Chelsea is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off tonight, Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

The match will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

Real Madrid vs Chelsea prediction

It is very difficult to be too optimistic about Chelsea’s chances in Madrid.

Lampard’s return has not brought an immediate bounce, while this is the time of the season when Real have so often come alive. With Real having home advantage and the likes of Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior in sensational form, the Blues are likely to be left with a mountain to climb in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.

Real Madrid to win, 3-1.

Head to head (h2h) history and results

It was hugely entertaining when the two met in the quarter-finals last season.

Real took complete control of the tie with a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea gave them a real scare when moving three-goals up at the Bernabeu. However, Real edged it 3-2 after extra time, and went all the way in the Champions League once again.
