Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde has admitted he was disappointed to see Casemiro depart for Manchester United.
The 24-year-old netted in Sunday’s 2-1 derby win over Atletico Madrid to take his tally up to four for the season. He is becoming a much-hailed player at the Bernabeu after his terrific start to the campaign following his first team breakthrough in 2018.
When the Uruguayan came through the ranks, Casemiro was one of the figureheads to ease him into life within the Los Blancos senior squad. So it was no surprise to hear him declare his wish for the Brazilian to stay in Madrid when asked about Casemiro’s future amid early reports of a United move in August.

And in a recent interview with TNT Sports (via Bola VIP ), Valverde explained how he was sorry to see his close friend leave the club. “It was very sad, obviously. For me, he was more than a teammate,” he said.
“He was a very special person, who opened doors for me at all times, advised me, taught me the values of this team and this club. He always supported me.
“He was my brother in the locker room. I miss him already, but I wish Casemiro and his whole family all the best always, wherever they are.”
Casemiro has started just once since making the move over to Manchester, having clocked up an additional four substitute appearances. The midfielder has been called up for this week’s Brazil internationals and is expected to appear at the World Cup in Qatar this winter.
