Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos is set to face a significant period on the sidelines due to an ankle sprain, as confirmed by sources. The 28-year-old sustained the injury during Madrid's recent 2-0 victory over Real Betis in LaLiga.
Following medical assessments conducted by the Real Madrid Medical Services, it was revealed that Ceballos has suffered a grade 3 sprain with ligament damage to his right ankle. This diagnosis is expected to keep him out of action for approximately six to eight weeks.
Ceballos, who earned his first start of the season in the match against Real Betis, was forced off the field after 65 minutes of play. The Spain international's absence adds to Real Madrid's growing list of midfield injury concerns.
Despite facing speculation about a potential departure from the club before the recent transfer deadline, Ceballos had struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup since his return from a loan spell at Arsenal in 2021. However, his strong performances towards the end of the 2022-23 season led to a contract extension with Madrid, now running until 2027.
Real Madrid had already been dealing with midfield injury setbacks, with Eduardo Camavinga nursing a knee ligament sprain and Jude Bellingham sustaining a calf injury during training. Bellingham is anticipated to regain fitness following the upcoming international break, providing a boost to the team's midfield options.
