European champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea ace Cole Palmer. Los Blancos president Florentino Perez and other prominent members of the board believe Palmer has what it takes to become a global superstar.
Real Madrid Interested in Chelsea Ace Cole Palmer But Wary of Asking Price
Since joining from Manchester City last summer, Palmer has developed into one of the finest attackers in the world. The centerpiece of Chelsea’s project, Palmer has single-handedly taken the Blues to invaluable points over the last one-and-a-half years.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes.net, La Liga holders Real Madrid have been awestruck by Palmer’s performances this season and have identified him as a long-term target. As per the aforementioned report, Real Madrid not only values the midfielder’s ability to impact the game but also thinks he could be a commercial success, thanks to soaring popularity across the world. The All-Whites have always taken the business side of things into account while signing players, and Palmer has seemingly passed the test.
Although Real Madrid would like to have Palmer in their ranks, they are also aware of the complexity of the operation. Chelsea has always been a tough negotiator, especially if the club is eager to hang on to the player. And considering how well Palmer has been performing, it is safe to say that the Pensioners will not make it easy for any team to sign the Englishman.
As per Fichajes, Chelsea will not entertain sub-€100 million ($105.7 million) offers. They have a long-term deal with the 22-year-old — until June 30, 2033 —, which gives them complete control of his future.
Palmer has played 62 games for Chelsea since joining from Man City, scoring 36 times and providing 21 assists.
Cole Palmer Shines As Blues Beat Tottenham Hotspur
Enzo Maresca’s in-form Chelsea traveled to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for their Premier League Matchday 15 clash with Spurs on Sunday, December 8. Thanks to the teams’ trigger-happy nature, goals were always on the cards, but very few would have expected to see seven of them in North London. After trading blows all night, Chelsea came away with a 4-3 win over Spurs, with Palmer once again emerging as the hero of the game.
The England international scored two excellent second-half penalties (61′, 84′), sending Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Fraser Forster the wrong way on both occasions. With the brace, Palmer took his tally of penalties to 12, surpassing Yaya Toure’s record (11) for the most consecutive penalties scored in the Premier League.
Palmer also created four chances, took four shots, pulled off four dribbles, delivered three accurate crosses, and won eight duels against Tottenham.
