Real Madrid Bids Farewell To Former Captain Nacho Fernandez

Nacho Fernandez

Real Madrid has officially announced a farewell event for former captain Nacho Fernandez, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 24, at 1:00 p.m. at Real Madrid City. The event will be a tribute and farewell to Nacho, with the presence of club president Florentino Perez.

Despite efforts from head coach Carlo Ancelotti and Perez to convince Nacho to extend his contract, the 34-year-old defender decided to move on. Nacho recently signed with Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Pro League after his contract with Real Madrid expired on June 30.

Real Madrid expressed gratitude to Nacho for his contributions over 12 seasons, during which he played 364 games and won an impressive 26 titles. These titles include six European Cups, five Club World Cups, four La Ligas, two Copa del Reys, and five Spanish Super Cups.

Nacho concluded his European football career on a high note by captaining Real Madrid to a treble, which included a La Liga title and another Champions League crown. This achievement solidified his place in history alongside other Real Madrid legends.

While some of his former teammates have retired or committed to another season with the club, Nacho will continue his career in the Middle East. The delayed farewell event is finally set to take place now that Nacho has returned from the Euros in Germany, where he was also part of the victorious Spanish national team.

Real Madrid aims to honor Nacho as a loyal servant to the club and celebrate his remarkable achievements during his time with the team. The event will be a fitting tribute to one of the great legends of Real Madrid.
