A new BBC drama is being filmed in Cardiff and the cast is packed with Welsh stars. Lost Boys and Fairies, the tender story of singer and artiste-extraordinaire Gabriel, his partner Andy and their journey to adoption, is inspired by a true story.
Cardiff-born Sion Daniel Young, who appeared in Channel 4's Deceit in 2022, is taking the lead role of Gabriel and star of stage and screen Fra Fee takes the other lead role of Andy. Filming has now begun in and around Cardiff, and cast and crew have been spotted at popular bakery Brod in Pontcanna, where production will bring to life Gabriel’s performances at queer club-space, Neverland, and chart his journey of self-discovery as he grapples with memories of his childhood, attempting to repair his relationship with his dad before becoming a parent himself.
Other Welsh stars in the drama include Arwel Gruffydd, who has starred in Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Shaheen Jafargholi who shot to fame on the X Factor and has starred in Casualty and EastEnders, Mali Ann Rees who has starred in The Pact, William Thomas who was in Torchwood, Gwyneth Keyworth from Alex Rider and Gwawr Loader who appeared in Hidden.

The show will be based on Daf's personal experiences, he said: "I’m thrilled to be working with this world-class team to bring my personally inspired Welsh, queer, adoption story to screen authentically.” There is no air date yet for Lost Boys and Fairies.
