Daisy Midgeley is set to face more turmoil in the coming weeks as her stalker hell intensifies in Coronation Street. The character, played by Charlotte Jordan, will reach her breaking point when admirer Justin steps up his harassment campaign.
Daisy met Jordan before the end of last year when she was awaiting her own scan results in the hospital after finding a lump in her breast. As she nervously waited for the results, a man nearby, who we now know to be Justin, noticed that Daisy was upset and went to sit with her and after they got talking, he told her that he was there with his mother, who has terminal cancer.
Since then, Justin's infatuation with Daisy has only grown with him sending countless bouquets of flowers to her at the Rovers. He even startled Daisy when he showed up at a wedding fair as she tried on dresses for her big day with Daniel Osbourne.
In scenes to air in the ITV soap next week, viewers will see Justin, who has been sending Daisy flowers and bombarding her with messages on social media, get hold of her number and starts sending her more messages.
Encountering Justin bearing a bunch of flowers on Victoria Street, Daisy storms over, hurls the bouquet onto the pavement and stamps on it. But as Justin places a calming hand on her arm, Daisy sees red and punches him, witnessed by a shocked George.
Justin reveals his mum has just died and he was visiting George to sort the arrangements leaving Daisy bursting into tears on Daniel’s shoulder. PC Jess then invites Daisy to the station because Justin has accused her of assault.
Charlotte joined Corrie as Daisy, the stepdaughter of Jenny Connor, back in 2020. Estranged from her mum, Daisy came to stay at the pub, reuniting with Jenny some years after they last saw each other. But she quickly ruffled feathers by encouraging Jenny's separation from her then-current husband Johnny Connor and later engineering Ryan Connor and Alya Nazir's split.
But Daisy has since found love with Daniel and despite it having been a rocky romance, viewers are hoping to see them exchanging vows. Off-screen, Charlotte is loved-up with her other half, Paul. The soap star tends to keep her private life out of the limelight so fans only get rare glimpses at the loved-up pair together.
Last summer, Charlotte shared a bunch of images to her Instagram page as she and Paul headed off to Paris. She shared images from museums while buried in the mix was a pic of the star relaxing back with a cocktail in the sun.
There was also another of her other half, Paul, sipping on what looked like an Aperol Spritz outside on the streets of the French capital. Then, Charlotte and her beau were spotted puckering up for a classic snap in front of the Eiffel Tower.
But Paul has actually made a cameo in Coronation Street alongside his girlfriend. Last year viewers saw a scheming Daisy trying to seduce Ryan Connor while he was in a relationship with Alya Nazir. In controversial scenes, the barmaid got Ryan drink and when she grabbed his thigh in the scene, it wasn't actually actor Ryan Prescott's, but the leg of her boyfriend.
"They roped my boyfriend in because we're shooting socially distanced," she told The Sun at the time. "He's not an actor but he grew up watching Coronation Street, so it was really fun just to see his little face when he looked at all the sets and stuff. It was very sweet. It was lovely."
Before joining Corrie, Charlotte starred as Gaby Grant in two seasons of Netflix series Free Rein. Lockdown hit six months after filming on Free Rein and it wasn't until the summer of 2020 that Charlotte was invited to audition for Corrie. Her role was announced in November the same year before she made her screen debut at the end of 2020.
But things could have been much different for Charlotte as she could have been a pop star. Speaking to the Metro, Charlotte explained: "When I was 15 and in my last year at school, I auditioned for a band that was being created by Simon Fuller and Geri Halliwell. It was a development deal, which means we spent a lot of time bonding, doing choreography and recording songs in the studio – sometimes cool songs, sometimes naff songs. You just try to find your sound.
"When they felt like we’d exhausted all options as a group, I was offered a solo deal. I did that for another two years and then, as I got older, I realised that acting was what I actually wanted to do and decided to go back to it. Just because you can sing, doesn’t necessarily mean you should be a singer."
In the same interview, she revealed that her first theatre job was Les Miserables in the West End when I was around 12-year-old and her first TV job was an episode of The Bill.
