Bethenny Frankel had branded Meghan Markle "sanctimonious" and likened her to one of The Real Housewives.
The 51-year-old reality star said that the Sussexes need to "let it go" and accused them of "creating more drama".
Meghan Markle recently invited a journalist from The Cut into her home to spill more details on the royal family as well as what life is like since leaving.
The reaction to the interview has been varied - with some praising the couple for speaking out, while others have criticised them.
Speaking on her podcast "Just B With Bethenny Frankel, she mocked Meghan's voice and said: "I want my privacy, but I want my podcast. I want my privacy, but I want a Netflix special."
"Let it go, Elsa. Move forward, create change in the future and leave that family behind because it's only creating more drama for your husband [ Prince Harry ]," she added.
Continuing her rant: “I think she’s sanctimonious and I think there’s this subtext of elevation.
She’s up there, we’re down here,” Frankel explained. “She has institutional knowledge on life and has experienced more than any of us.”
“She’s very self-important and she’s very much like a Housewife,” Frankel added, referring to her reality show The Real Housewives.
“In that she can’t stop talking about the very thing that she wants to be irrelevant,” she added.
In the interview, Meghan said how she has "really made an active effort to forgive" Harry's family, as well as her own family, but is "still healing" from the ordeal.
But Bethenny accused Meghan of trying to "take down" the royal family, and more shockingly said that "while it's important to talk about some of the racism within it, that's not something people are surprised by".
Meghan said how she "hasn't had to sign anything that restricts her from talking" about life as a senior royal.
She told The Cut that Harry told her that he "lost his dad" after the couple chose to step down from the family.
“Harry said to me: ‘I lost my dad in this process.
“It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”
A spokeswoman for Meghan later made clear that she was referring to losing her own father and that she hopes this does not happen to Harry and his father.
A source close to Charles said he would be saddened if Harry felt their relationship was lost, adding: “The Prince of Wales loves both his sons.”

Allison Davis, the journalist that Meghan spoke with, asked if Meghan could forgive the royals.
She replied: "I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive.
“But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything.”
