Savvy shoppers already know that next week heralds Amazon Prime Day , when the internet giant slashes prices on thousands of its best-selling products.
But in amongst the inevitable beauty and gadget discounts, there’s a little-known offer that's gone live already and allows customers the chance to enjoy thousands of books, audiobooks and magazines totally free between now until October, meaning keen readers could save hundreds of pounds on the cost of some big name titles.
Kindle Unlimited is available free for three months for Prime Members signing up for the service.
There’s no strings attached and customers don’t need a Kindle device to read them, as the free Kindle app can be installed on a phone or tablet instead.
Savings on books and magazines can soon stack up for readers taking advantage of the deal. Bestsellers included free include all the Harry Potter books, which usually cost £4.99 each on ebook, Radio 2 Book Club pick Tell Me How This Ends by Jo Leevers, Crime Novel of the Year Award winner We Begin at the End by Chris Whitaker, Richard and Judy Book Club choice The Midnight House by Amanda Geard and Jeffrey Archer's latest page turner Over My Dead Body.
Meanwhile magazines included include Closer, Men's and Women's Health, Good Housekeeping, BBC Good Food Magazine, The New Scientist, Grazia, Take a Break and dozens more.
The only thing to remember is to set a note in the calendar to cancel shortly before the three months is up to avoid being charged for an ongoing subscription at the end of the free trial.
