The Carolina Panthers had it in their mind to go grab a weapon for their new franchise quarterback in Bryce Young, and they just did that in the second round with the selection of Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo.
Mingo was a dynamic starter for Ole Miss putting up over 1,200 yards and eight touchdowns over the last two seasons. While his stats may not jump off the page, his size, speed, and athletic profile project very well to the NFL and can be molded into an ‘X’ receiver in the league.
With the departure of DJ Moore, Mingo projects to be an impact player for the Panthers right away. It would not be surprising to see Mingo come away as the starting receiver for the Panthers should he develop well in training camp and beyond. His size and speed will be a true asset for for Bryce Young, and will allow the deep portion of the field to open up.
