KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Rays will have to wait until Saturday to resume their post All-Star break play.
Friday’s game against the Royals was postponed due to rain and high winds, and rescheduled as the first game of a day-night doubleheader on Saturday.
Tyler Glasnow will pitch the opener for the Rays, which starts at 2:10 p.m. Tampa Bay time. Cooper Criswell, who is being added to the roster as the 27th man, will either start or provide bulk innings in the second game, which is slated for 7:10 p.m.
The Rays were still discussing their plans going forward, but they seem to be leaning toward pushing back the rest of their starters one day.
Under that plan, Zach Eflin would face the Royals on Sunday, with Shane McClanahan pitching Monday’s series opener at Texas and Taj Bradley working Tuesday. The Rays are undecided what to do on Wednesday, which would be Yonny Chirinos’ turn, but he has not been pitching well.
Also, infielder Yandy Diaz, placed on the paternity list Friday, now may not rejoin the team until Monday.
