Rayo Vallecano Sporting Director David Cobeno has confirmed that Andoni Iraola turned down a move to Leeds United. The Whites were willing to match the release clause in the Basque manager's contract, but he's made the decision to stay with the La Liga club.
Speaking to RadioMarca Cobeno said: “Andoni has a clause, like the majority of the employees of the club, in terms of footballers and coaches. From that point, we refer [teams] to the clause.
“From there, the decision of Andoni was clear, and he has given us his word until the end of the season. Sometimes a person’s word weighs more than money, and Andoni has shown as much.”

Leeds are continuing their search for a new head coach after parting company with Jesse Marsch over a week ago. The Whites hierarchy were left with no choice but to sack the American after defeat to Nottingham Forest which saw them pulled closer to the bottom three.
Managerless, but not disheartened, Leeds put in a spirited performance on the road at Old Trafford but squandered a two goal lead to come away with a point. Erik Ten Hag's side then ran out 2-0 winners at Elland Road, to put further pressure on the Whites chiefs to make a managerial decision.
Iraola was one of the names linked with a move to Elland Road, with his Rayo side 6th in La Liga, despite the fact they have one of the lowest budgets in the division.
